383 stroker need cam suggestions. Thx.

Hello everybody, and thanks for all of your great posts. I'm building my first 383 and this is what i've got so far:

30 over block
64 cc vortec heads
edelbrock performer rpm (not purchased yet)
edelbrock 750cfm carb (not purchased yet)
the eagle stroker kit I bought has a listed compression ratio of 9.9 to 1 with the vortec heads.
the car is going to be used for the street only, hopefully running on 91 octane.
I swapped in a 200-4r overdrive tranny for my old th350, and i'm going to change the rearend to 3.73. What cam specs should I be looking for that will give me some decent power without having to rough of an idle? Thanks in Advance.

Assuming you have a good set of headers you'll want something like the voodoo 268 cam, or a hair smaller at the 262. Either is plenty streetable with your combination. BTW advertised and actual compression can vary a great deal- it has to be measured to know what you really have. If you have a measured compression of 9.5 or less I would definitely go for the 262 cam, if its more I would go with the 268. 9.5 and lower should run on 87 octane just fine too.
