383 stroker rear engine seal leak.
looking at buying a 78 camaro with a 383 stroker crate motor in it. car is in great shape but the rear engine seal is apparently leaking and needs to be fixed. could this be anything else and is this a big risk purchasing the car. i know that just fixing the seal is an easy fix but could it be something else that might raise concern? thanks and the engine has 20k on the rebuild

Depends on the price? could also be the intake leaking and dripping down.
If the price is right, take the engine out and go through it |
the price seems to be right. is there any way to get a better idea when i go to take a look at the car? to distinguish better what may be leaking? how much would either type of leak cost if you know?
thanks |
Clean the engine then run the engine. If the leak is small, you can buy dye to trace the leak.If it was my engine I would remove the engine to work on it.If its high performance you should look at the timing chain while its out of the car,,,
shop price to have it done would likely be 14 hours plus or minus plus parts |
