383 vs. 400
I have a 29 chevy 2dr sedan. I'm thinking about putting either 383 or 400 but which one? Also what tranny and rear gear would be good for either engine? This car will be a cruiser.

You can't go wrong with either one, these motors put out alot of torque so I would go with a 9" and a tall set of gears like a 3.50.

Though both engines are fine,I would go with
the 383.It's just better.(and easier to find parts for than a 400). A ford 9" is great,but a 12 bolt chevy with 3.73 gears will get you moving great. For a tranny try a th700r4.The overdrive is cool and you won't hear any "i can't drive a stick" whining. Good luck!
