That's an intelligent question 71nova1. Sometimes the outer inertia ring of the damper slips on the elastomeric material between the inertia ring and the inner hub. When that happens, there is no way to use a light to time the motor. I wrote an article for the wiki and I'll refer you to it.....

ok thats what i thought, well i will do this toomarrow, its too cold out side right now, its 36 degrees i sure that would make a difference, toomarrow should be 60 out so that should be just warm enough. I will post toomarrow and we will see how i was taught or how I listened,lol. I am running ac delco plugs, Is that a good plug for that? I have msd ignition.

autozone and gm sell harmonic balancers that are very affordable...

The one that is on there only has 2000 miles on it, so i didnt think to change it, I will check the tape and everything toomarrow, but i think it will be fine. What type of spark plugs do you think i should use??

find out the year, make, and model your heads came off of, and use the original ac plugs. i have been in the auto parts business a long time, and it makes a difference. at least start there.

ac delco 41-993 plugs. these were designed with those heads...

ac delco r44lts plugs are a conventional plug for those heads also.
