Post 396 with a 5-speed?

Can a Borg-Warner 5 speed from a 350 Camaro be mated up to a 70 Chevelle 396 currently set up with a Muncie 4 speed with .331 rear? Would this be a terrifyingly difficult thing to pull off and can that trans actually handle the torque of a big block chevy? (350hp-350lb/ft)

it will bolt up. Big and small Chevy uses the same bellhousing.

Listen to these guys though. Definately keep the Muncie, they are strong.

You just looking for an overdrive?

no five speed short of a TREMEC 5 speed tranny wil withstand the torque of a bog block, the onlt overdrive transmissiont i know of that can talke teh abuse is a Richmond ROD and a Borg Warner T.56 wich both are 6 speeds. id stick with the muncie.

It is possible though to build a 700-R4 that kan take a Big block's abuse. i have one in a 66 implala with an ls6 in it and believe it or not it hasnt exploded. but they are not cheaq
