I know a couple axle guys here (used to) frequent the
www.thirdgen.org webforum.
I believe you'll probably have more luck there. 3rd gen is for the 82-92 f-bodies (camaros and firebirds) and there was a fair amount of info on these axles. Most of the guys now swap in a 4th gen axle, but this can cause problems with your existing wheels. Im sorry your friend got butchered on this deal; they're really good axles if taken car of for this low powered application
