3rd Generation Camaro Torq Arm

My dilemma, i currently have an 82 camaro with a super t10, with the accesory holes for a torq arm bracket. but that transmission blew up, i have a stronger Super t10 that is in good condition , but the tail shaft does not have the holes for the torq arm bracket. The tail shafts are not interchangable due to the output shaft size being larger on the good tansmission. I there a way to make a bracket to attach the torq arm to the crossmember? Hw do i get around this hurdle? any suggestions would be great

They interchanged on mine. Could you weld a bracket to your cross member

Does the tail housing have holes for a shifter? If so, maybe you could fabricate something to adapt. Or, could the old tailshaft be swapped into the new trans so the old housing would work?

Another option would be to ditch that annoying torque arm and convert to a much better working three or even a 4 link rear. I have never liked the torque arm on a anything but a dirt car. There we call em J-bars.

You could reattach the torque arm to the body just a behind the trans without sacrificing the left side wieght jacking they are supposed to correct.

Housings

They wont interchange because the outputshafts are different sizes and lengths, as for the 3 link suspension i plan on putting the entire ssm subframe , crossmember, and track bars in as soon as a get a rear end that is good enough to justify spending the time to weld everything in. The stock 3.08 one legger 10 bolt is junk, so when i find a 12 bolt im going to do that

I had made an L bracked that bolted under the tranny mount and then the torque arm bolted to the verticle piece of the L bracket. It seemed ok, but didn't have the car long enuff to troubleshoot it cuz it seemed to have an excessive amount of wheel hop......hope this helps.

I got a kit from jegs, it comes with a bracket that bolts to the tail housing for the tork bar to mount to as well as a new cross member.
