4.0 ford death rattle
hello just wondering if anyone had ran across the 4.0 v6 motor in like explorers
that when you start it knocks then goes away shift rpm it comes back shifts then goes away we had 2 of these motors do the same thing but never had a issue both were close to 200000 miles good oil press ect just wondering thanks

OHV or SOHC? SOHC can have timing chain rattle which sometimes sounds like knocking. Never heard an OHV knock.
I had a '92 Ranger with 2.9 ( predecessor to 4.0L, both are Cologne engines ). It knocked 3 times when shut down. 202k miles on it and I sold it running/driving
