Changing the gear in my 1985 SS Monte Carlo and trying to decide between 4.10 and 4.56. I have a 200-r4 trans and a 327 that is moderately built. The car is a weekend toy that may go to the strip every now and then but street driven. I know the 200-4r has a tall 4th gear but would a 4.56 to much or just right for getting it out of the hole but still a decent top end on the freeway? It has the factory 3.73 would a 4.10 even be that much of a difference?

i would say that would depend on what diameter rear tire your running. i have 4.56's in my ventura with a 26in. tall tire and i run a 700r4 which the O.D. is very close to the 200-4r. i turn roughly 2200 rpm @ 55 mph.
you can use this calculator HERE , and make the choice for yourself based on where you want the car to run rpm wise on the road. ;)
