That will help so will an air damn/splitter under the front of the car. Areodynamics and weight are the best thing to start with for free. Bed cover and dont forget the good wax job.
You can switch to carb for crazy upgrades. I would get a cam and exhuast with headers and larger pipes. Before you do the tune so you will get all your mods dailed in at once.
Thinner head gaskets and little port work will wake it up a little for next to nothing.
