working on another 91 s10 pickup with tbi 4.3L vin Z

the owner fried the starter solenoid trying to start it with a failed fuel pump for a long time.

its toasted burnt up.

it is a really oddball solenoid unique to these engines and i dont have one around all i have are v-8 and such startes which have a way different solenoid attaching feature than the 4.3L ones have

so i could either convert to a ford solenoid.,

or i could try a v-8 starter maybe couldnt i?

if it wont work then why not?

too big of a starter to physically fit where the y pipe comes down under the starter or what?

why are these 4.3l starters so unique and odd?

i believe most these starters were made not to open. but re builders have and they charge a lot. i had to buy a rebuilt from Advance auto parts. about two years ago. it was around $125.00. for a rebuilt. that's outrageous, that was two years ago. you might check the wrecking yards. not much help from me.
