4.6 / 5.4 DOHC Swap
I am interested in doing a DOHC swap in my 2002 ranger Edge. Does anyone have any previous experience or know of a link I can check on?

ranger did not come with a 4.6. The 4.0 was the largest and they are a 60 degree engine. They are narrower than a 90 degree engine
Seems like the 4.6 and 5.4 are the same, as far as size and bolt up , but you would need to run the pcm with the engine it came with due to calibration. A dohc motor like these may not fit a ranger. I do know a 5.0 can be fitted in, and a 97 explorer has the low profile intake to make it work. The moduler engines are pretty wide and may not fit. If you have a 4X4 the 5.0 fits well with a body lift as there is a clearance issue at the air conditioning box under the hood. The valve cover is too close, but lifting the body 2-3 inches gives good clearance. |

Does is have to be DOHC engine? SOHCs are going to be easier to find and will probably be a somewhat easier to fit. An older 5.0 or 289/302 would probably be a much cheaper and easier swap.
