4 -71 supercharger

I just came back from a swap meet and ended up with a rebuilt 4-71 blower. seems to be in good shape but i need the front pulley drive and i need the small back covers, I'm thinking of making a intake for it myself and was wondering if anyone ever tried this and knew of any place to get parts and info on my latest project.

Might want to keep an eye on E-bay I see some 4-71 stuff on there from time to time. Was this 4-71 built for automotive use? Did you look over the rotors and case for scratches or damage? I like the 4-71's they are neat looking little blowers. I think Hampton Blowers might be able to help you out with parts and maybe even a manifold. He does a lot of one off stuff and some pretty crazy things as well.

Call Tommy at Chief engines down in FL
www.chiefengines.com
Or Herb Stotler at www.stotlerracing.com
or Laz Mesa at Mesa Balancing www.mesabalancing.com
Any of those guys will have all the new or used parts you need nice and cheap.
These are the 3 big marine engine builders down here in FL and well basically they build the wildest stuff on the planet as far as im concerned.
I have two 1000 HP Stotler racing engines in my 41 apache and Tommy at Chief and Laz at Mesa build the identical engines for other people.
Laz is doing my 468 pontiac for my trans am and these guys know blowers inside and out.
I have twin 10-71 BDS on my boat and want another one for the pontiac.
Good luck and they will have all the stuff you need
J

An intake can be made, if you have access to a mill. I have built low buck blower intakes by using an old aftermkt intake and mill the carb flange flat. Parallel to the intake/head mounting holes. Then mount a flat piece of 1/2" aluminum plate, with the center milled out to fit the original intake, and the outside dimensions about 1" larger than the blower base. Use scrap pieces of aluminum and weld braces from intake to plate at the four outer corners.

This takes a bit of backyard engineering but works. I have one in the shop window as a display.
