Hi,
Im working on a 1960 Devin,I installed a new gas tank and it now rubs on the top of the rear end(9" ford)any advise on how to raise the body? It has a 4 link suspension, and a plate which can give someupward movement on the rear shocks,(coil over),Could spacers on top of the coil springs raise the body height ? I tore a hole in the old tank after a test run, just after I hit second gear. Car weight is 1900 lbs, engine is a 350 chevy, camel hump heads, roller cam,650 holly, headers,Trans is a rock chrusher.tire spin is a problem. Any help will be appreciated Devin |

If this car was alive in it's previous incarnation I would say you simply made an error in gas tank dimensions by not using the original tank as a pattern for the new one.
If it was just a Devin body on some flavor of chassis that you found and then made modifications to then the same applies. Recheck your measurements and get the right tank. Admit you screwed up and take your lumps. We've all done it, no biggie! Just another funny story to tell in your dotage...."Yes, sonny, I remember back in 2003 when I made gas tank for my Devin...Yeah the one in the garage there. Well, I had a tape with a chunk missing and paid for a tank too big for the hole...had to get a new one made after....HAHAHAHAHAH". |
