4 Spd Ford truck trans swap questions

Hi I am new here and hoping someone can help me out. I have a 1968 F100 short bed truck. I have installed a 351w and c4. Now I want to drop the c4 and install a toploader. I have the trans but don't know what to do about a shifter. I see all the hurst 3 spd shifters but they wont work with a four speed. David Kee has one for 400+ but I dont have the correct tailhousing. I have thought about buying the three speed Ford install kit from hurst and getting the 4 speed chevy truck (Hurst 3910002) shifter. But I hate to waste the cash if it wont work. Has anyone ever installed a toploader in a truck? If so please help me out.

Thanks.

Ford vans in the early 70's had a toploader 4 speed in them..get one of those shifters from the wrecking yard and you may be in business...Some small mods may be required...
