4 speed top loader problems

I purchased a rebuilt top loader for a 65' mustang project. The tranny shifted fine before I installed it in the car. When I was installing it, the tranny slid into the clutch just fine, until the last 1 inch or so, it had to be pulled to the bell housing with the 4 bolts, and it went hard the whole way! I got in a hurry to fire up the new crate motor and I did not have a yoke for the tranny, so like an idiot I started the engine without filling the tranny! I thought it was out of gear but unfortunately the linkage was hooked up misaligned, and it turns out it was in gear! I ran the motor for about ten minutes! I have since filled it with gear oil & have ran the motor. It seems to be stuck in gear, the yoke stops spinning when I push in the clutch. The shifter seems to slide into all gears except 1st. DID I TRASH THE TRANNY? HELP!!!!!!!!
