4 years and 9 days...

4 years and 9 days, we have ignition, YEAH, BABY! A friend and my son and I we're working on the old 38 thursday night. We got just enough done on it to see if it would fire. Haven't got power to the electric fuel pump yet. Maybe monday night. So we poured a little gas into the carb and sure enough it fired right up almost instantly. What a great feeling. With open hedders and in the garage that rascal really roared. Felt the air vibrate, sounded like raw power. Made me feel like I was on the starting line at the quarter mile. MY garage is way out back of the house and the wife heard it and wondered what the neighbors were up to heh, heh. About the time she got to the garage we had it fired up again. WOW! What a great feeling to have worked so long at it and actually get to hear it roar into life. I got some more parts today. A transmission cooler cause oil shot out form under the car and an oil pressure gauge and ammeter gauge. Only thing left will be to get the speedometer in the spring. Can't wait to get the fuel pump working and take it around the block. The wife took a pic of me for my personal photo album, said that smile was so big you couldn't wipe it off my face. Now my 38 is even more special!!!!

There's nothing like hearing it fire for the 1st time! Until that moment it's just a pile of parts after that it's an engine. Congrats!

I'm raising a glass (of Pepsi) in the direction of Ohio this evening in your honor, 38. Gotta be a great feeling to hear the beast come alive.

Glad it fired up so easy. I wish I could get mine ready to go soon. I am about ready to lift the body off and work on the frame, so it will be awhile.

Thanks for the Pepsi CBoy, you remebered my favorite drink. Had to cut back on it though, Dr.'s orders.

Yeah, that was a sweet sound Tazz, I'm surprised you didn't hear it clear up your way. Did you hear anything that sounded like thunder thursday night.

Yeah Hippie, now I have a pile of moving parts.

You've got a long way to go Gr8 48.

Thanks the rest of you guys too, yup it's a good feeling.

Hey weimer, I can't seem to get power to my gauges and fuel pump. May give you a shout later.

I envy you. I've been waiting for the same day, maybe this winter. Too much work, too little time. Congrats, the car is coming along great. Dan

Cool!

I was so excited after I got the white caprice on the road, I was laying rubber during it's first mile.
