40-47 Ford Cab ID
I bought a Ford cab for a rat project without Title/Ownership. I was told it was a 41. Is there any way to verify that it is a 41? We're there any changes from 40-41 pr 46-47? Does not really matter, just when I get a new Ownership, I have to claim the year.

You can go to the Early Ford V-8 club site. They have pictures of trucks there . The Front Clip changed from 40 to 41 but I don't know about the Cab differences, We have a 46 farm truck project out in a couple feet of snow. Ours came with a Y block Lincoln installed> I don't know if they have an Id tag on the firewall or somewher else. I think some vehicles had a tag in the glove box. If you sign up For the V 8 club, be aware that some of the guys get upset that you are not doing a restoration. Ask your questions carefully ! !

During the war years..41 to 47 there were very little changes in domestic cars and trucks..So yours could be anything in there..

40-47 Ford cab ID
Yes ,I realize that automobile production was halted from 1942- 1947 with no autos rolling off the assembly line. I know that they did continue military truck production during those years and that was what I was interested in finding out about. I wasn't sure if subtle changes had been made. I do know that there are differences regarding running boards and fender mounting between the 40 and 41. So I guess I can just declare my truck as a 41 to the motor vehicle office.

war time trucks
we still have 2 old chevy farm trucks a 45 and 46 and a brother=in=law got rid of a 44, All are painted army green It took a lot of paperwork for grandpa to prove that he needed a new one during the war years. And there is a military truck in town that has a basic chevy cab, with the heavy flat front fenders and military grill with a cow catcher , My son bought a couple of mid 40's International KB large logging truck cabs Military green. , he was thinking of doing a rat project a while back

I'm sure that green was the colour from 1942-47 on every truck that rolled off the assembly line. Maybe a few black ones to.

40-47 are all the same, they changed the dash in 46 and a couple small things, but are interchangable,(doors, windows, handles)front sheetmetal was completly different though.

There is no way to tell the year from the cab. All the dated info was either on the frame or motor...

I just found out that a 40 cab has the script pressed into the dash. A 41 has two small holes in the same area where the script is mounted on a separate piece and attached to the dash.
