Post 40 Ford wheel size-help please

Need help on width of wheels and tire size to use for big and littles on 40 Ford, will narrow rear end to fit.

What wheel width/backspace and size tire would you recomend for front and rear. I plan on new steel wheels/stock hub caps/etc for the oldie look.

On my '40 coupe with a 4" dropped I-beam front axle and Ford 8" rearend, I'm running:

Front: P185/70 SR14
Rear: P235/70 SR15

btw, the rearend is an original width Ford Granada on Chassis Engineering parallel leaf spring setup.

Good luck, r

I also have a 4" dropped axle and the stock rear end.

165X80X15R on the front (stock 56 F100 rim)

235X75X15R on the rear ..7" rim with 3.5 to the curb and 4.5 backspace

That Std. Coupe is a beauty, too. I used 47-48 Merc 15" wheels on my 40 205-75R-15 on the front and 215-75R-15 on the rear. Used 42 Hubcaps and 40 trim rings. Looked good!
I believe the Mustang (65-68), Maverick(all years), don't forget the Maverick looking Merc Comet, and the Granada (Merc version called Zephyr) rears are all the same. Fit well, don't require shortening.
