Post 400 or 700r

Good day. I am wondering if any one has input on a th400 which I have now, and I love the strength versus a 700.
I am running a 350 that is pulling about 400 HP.
WITH 355 gears. therefore no bottem end. I want to go to 373's or 4ll's, but will loose my crusing rpm's. if i put in a 700 with the overdrive, should take care of the prob what should the gear ratios be in the 700, and what probs will incounter. ant input? This set up is in a 1948 Chevy sedan delivery thanks oldnable

i am running a built 700r4 in a 66 impala with a 454 (292comp magnum cam) with 3.31 gears and i have not been able to kill it, a friend of mine is useing a 700 in a 86 4x4 suburban with 33īs and a 6,5L diesel!! and hes been driveing everyday for two years now..

so in my wiew, is the 700 the better choice. also the first gear ratio is lower so you might not hava to swap the gears anyway, youll have better tourque multiplication in first and the better mileage in OD, plus you will be able to cary on a conversation, sosnething that isnt easy with a 400 and 4:11 gears
