400 block 350 rods and power pak heads
I have 400 block and crank, i know 350 rods are easy to come by, and i have a set of 283 power pak heads. just curious if this would work seein how i have these bits layin around the house. from what i've been told the 400 is a low rpm motor so are the power pak heads. don't know much about putting motors together so not very familer with the math part of the whole deal just know that they should bolt together... i think anyways. any advice would be appreciated but keep in mind i have very shallow pockets so nothing to fancy i know the heads, crank and the block are going together

Any of the multitude of 350 heads with 1.94 1.5 valves will work fine. You just have to drill steam holes in them as you would with the power pac ones. You also should get 400 rods if you can. While not as plentiful as 350's, 400 pistons to fit a 5.7 rod will cost you a bit more than the stock repalcement ones. Arm yourself with some casting numbers from here and go to the U pull it yard. The numbers are on the rocker arm side. Be careful about the rods. It's not easy to eyeball the difference.
