Ok I got this 72 chevy impala that has a 400 engine in it. But, I'm taking it out to put it in a 84 chevy caprice. An I was wondering how can I make the engine a little stronger than it already is??
72 was the first year of the smogger motors. We were right in the middle of the Arab Oil Embargo and the environmentalists were screaming about air pollution, lobbying Congress for cleaner air. Auto manufacturers scrambled to clean up the emissions and in doing so, created some of the worst performing motors ever built for the displacement used.JChalk11 said:Ok I got this 72 chevy impala that has a 400 engine in it. Techinspector is absolutely right. In my humble opinion, you need to educate yourself about engine basics first. There are plenty of books and videos from auto parts stores and speed shops. Even a local library should have some of these.JChalk11 said:Would it just be correct just to send my motor off to get it rebuilt instead of asking you all an I dont know what half of you all are saying. Unless you can tell me step by step on what to do then I will save my money. :mwink:
Drop down to Roger's (Cope) Hot Rod Shop just on the south edge of town on the right on Hwy 1 about 3 miles south of the bypass towards Harrisburg.JChalk11 said:Would it just be correct just to send my motor off to get it rebuilt instead of asking you all an I dont know what half of you all are saying.
