400 horsepower with T5 gearbox
 
Running a T5 world class 5 speed at moment in my 2600lb car,just upgrading my heads and hopefully getting more power,am I now pushing my T5 to its limit now I will be close to the 400 horsepower mark?
My mate runs 400 horsepower on his cosworth 4 cylinder turbo his seems to be holding up ok!

As long as you don't have a huge torque # and no sticky tires you should be fine.

I just picked up another T5 that I'm putting behind a chevy 302 in my 280z. One of the reasons I destroked it is because its easier on transmissions- the other reason was just to be different.

Just be a little bit gentle with it and it will survive just fine.

what would it cost over there to buy a TKO 5 speed? and what could you sell the T-5 for?

shift it kind of slow and it will be ok. Avoid big shocks to the transmission.

I have a similar build (t5, 400+ hp 350cid, 2600 pounds) but also added a 200hp shot of n02. Car runs in the 10's and traps at 135 mph with slicks (1/4 mile).

The 5th gear is weak, avoid full power in 5th. (I broke my 5th gear).

That's sounds a quick car, what rear gears and tyres you running?
What heads,cam,carb you running, would help me out sorting my track times out?

that's a lot more than i thought that Trans could take

An old school 350 with 200cc dart iron eagle heads (64cc chambers). Compression is about 11:0 cr. I used a compcam 292H, edelbrock rpm intake, hei with msd ignition, holley 3310 750, long tube headers, dual 2.5 inch exhaust with hooker aero-chamber mufflers.

Put some foggers on the side of the intake under the carb. I used a 1 gallon fuel cell in front of the radiator to supply the no2 system with racing fuel.

gear is a 3.90 and slicks are 26x8 MT.

The compcam 292H will make power all the way to valve float (7200 rpms).

The block is zero decked and is actually 362 cids.

best so far on no2: 1.6 second 60 foot, 6.9 at 110 1/8 mile and 10.6 at 135 in the 1/4.

around 11.7 at 120 on the motor.

On a stock WC T5? Chevy or ford t5? Any mods done to it? I have two t5's to swap in cars when I'm done moving.

gm t-5's with no mods, but t-5's from a v8. It makes a difference. The v8 t-5 has the fine tooth front input shaft. 21 or 23 tooth I believe. The v6 t-5 has the course input shaft around 10 teeth.

I have run both world class and non-world class t-5's with the same results.

just don't shock the transmission with a hard hit, like dropping the clutch with no load on the the transmission.

To reduce shock, I do the following at the drag strip. I use a line lock on the brakes, and rev the engine to 5000 rpms, and slightly let out the clutch to preload the driveline, then let the brake line lock off and let go of the clutch on the last yellow light on the tree
