"can I do this and have nothing else too do?"
No. This is a '73 motor. It is one of the lowest compression small blocks Chevy ever built. If you think the motor is slow now, just install more cam without a static compression ratio change and you'll find out pretty quickly what slow really is. |

if its in good shape now then go ahead and do it.down the road if you don't like then you'll have the parts and can wait to do more on yuor own time schedule but i think you will realize want you are looking for.call a good cam company one of your choosing and give them your info and they will help pick a cam.you may think about bigger rockers also which make it seem like you have a bigger cam to go along with the cam.it makes the helps the valves open sooner and stay open longer.a .450" lift cam with 1.6 rockers will make it .480".something like a comp cam magnum 470 would be good but call comp or crane or someone.the rockers don't have to be rollers.
