Post 400 SBC Head Gaskets

I'm slowly assembling a 400 SBC for a mild street application. Normal aspiration, 10:1 compression, iron heads. I've seen the results of, and heard stories about, blown head gaskets on 400s. I'm looking for a good set of head gaskets. Local speed shops (of course) tout what they have on hand. I'd like to hear about both good and bad experiences you've had with the various manufacturers, Felpro, ROL, etc.

Your best bet is to use FELPO BLUE. When I ran a Automotive Machine Shop that is all I ever used and had very GOOD LUCK with them. The biggest thing is to have the Heads Resurfaced to make sure that the heads are flat, and make sure the head gaskets are for a 400 - That they have the steam holes in them.

Thumbs up

yep you can't go wrong with Felpro, just used some Felpro Competition gaskets with my alloy heads at bit more costly but worth it.
