Would raise the compression ratio quite a bit I assume. EDIT- Depends on casting number. A LOT
You will be spending money having the heads drilled though. Not sure what the usual cost is. Never done it.
In my opinion - you will have just as much money wrapped up in fully rebuilding your stock heads as a set of aftermarket heads and you will not make as much horsepower or have nearly the resale value if you want to sell the heads sometime down the road.
Combustion chambers way too small as mentioned and too small of valves.
Aftermarket heads are the way to go... You'll need the steam holes drilled with a 1/8 bit but that's it.
Edelbrock RPM heads were my choice.. ran them on my 406 for quite awhile...
With a JE flat top 2 valve relf. 5.7Rod 400 crank it was 10.7-1 and was happy with 92-93 oct. and was able to spray 150hp No2 with no problems.
Ran 11.60's on the motor and mid 10's on the bottle. 89 Camaro.
The RPM heads are under 1000.00 ready to bolt on. Good to .575 lift.
