96 was the last year for the caprice. The engine that came in those is the second gen. small block LT1. They are reverse cooled and older style heads and intake will not work. What is the casting number on the block? Its at the rear above where the bell housing bolts onto. Gm does make a carbed intake for the LT engines. You would need a distributor compatible with the roller cam as well.

The TBI fuel injected 350's "LO5" have a modified intake bolt pattern. The center 4 bolts are at a different angle.
The latter Caprice LT1 motor is a different beast. This is a GEN 2 engine with reverse cooling cooling flow passage revisions and the manifolds will not swap at all. There is a carbed intake manifold available that allows running a Qjet and HEI distributor on a gen II 350 as opposed to the EFI.
