I'll just reiterate, if different is what you want, then don't go the 454, or the many stroker versions of 468, 496, 502, etc. Drop in the shorter crank and have the 427. It will be different in this day, as nobody seems to destroke a 454, and cheaper to build, as all the parts are readily available.

On the 063 heads be sure to inspect the spark plug seat closely to see if they're tapered or flat (for gasketed plugs). The changeover was late '69-'70 depending on the exact head. The 802 head should be the gasketed type.

next project if you like the 402 style of power, make the short stroke 532.

I still say your 402 is making 400 hp,because it is a short stroke motor and math,,,torque Vs Hp and weight, doesnt matter, its just a number

If they're small hole they take 5/8" tapered plugs; large hole 13/16" sealing washer plugs.

Ahh, Ok. I must've missed that (or, should say, misunderstood what you originally said).
I like your thinking, because I have always been a big fan of the 427 though. My Dad ran a restoration shop out of Austin, TX back in the 80's, and I remember him taking me for a drive in a '66 vette, 427, 4 speed. WOW, what a ride! I will never forget that car (or the 427)
