402 block with 454 crank what type piston
If any one knows what type piston I should use can you please let me know I have a set of TRW flat top forged and a set of Keith black hypereutectic 180 dome. which ones would be better? The rods are stock length. Would this be considered a stroker? Thanks everyone!!

re: 402 block with 454 crank what type piston
Can't help on the pistons but just a reminder. The 396/402 are internally balanced and the 454 is externally balanced. Just remember to use the 454 front dampener and flex-plate or flywheel if you're going manual. Also make sure you have the entire rotating assembly balanced by a good machine shop. Nothing will tear a motor apart quicker than vibration.

re: 402 block with 454 crank what type piston
dont know if this helps, but i am trying to build a 415, and everyone i have asked says go with hypereutectic pistons. also wondering how the crank/block combo makes c.i.d., but there is probably a whole page dedicated to it already.

re: 402 block with 454 crank what type piston
What bore are your pistons, remember a 402 is only 4 1/8" bore and can only go .070 safely. A 454-427 is 4 1/4" bore. You can put the 454 crank in the block but there is only one(affordable) piston that will fit, it is made by Keith Black has a .100 dome and is listed as a 434 piston.
