403 Olds in Australia

hi y'all. i am after any help with rebuilding a 403 Olds. Unfortunately there is not a lot of help on offer down here in Australia so i am sending out a call across this world wide internet thingy...
the block is a 557265 4A. as far as i know it's had a .30" overbore with around 8.0:1 compression. it is hooked up to a TH350 trans and a final drive of 3.08:1

the car drives great, but i am used to a 445hp SBC that loved to rev! i am just after any cam/head/manifold combinations that work well for street use. it has a quadrajet on it at the moment but i think it is heading for the trash in favour of a Holley or Barry Grant 750cfm vac sec. but again, i seek the consult of this here forum.

many thanks in advance,

Jacknife

You may or may not have noticed, but there's a couple threads currently running on just that subject.

A good start would be to review those threads and see then what else comes to mind.

There's one place that I'd want to add for you to take a look at- Joe Mondello's shop.

A list of Joe Mondello’s (aka “Dr. Oldsmobile”) articles, including two on just the 403 are located HERE.

cobalt, I didn't see Joe's articles in your link, but found them here....

This quote from the T/A article you linked is a little unsettling to me though....
"The windowed mains of the 403 prevent the engine from winding past 5000-5500 rpm without risk of damage.
Fear not Rocket Power fans, help is on the way. With a minimal investment you can be putting out 300 to 350 hp and tire-frying torque."

Heck, you can do that with a MILD 350 Chevy and never have to worry about "windowed" mains.

Crap! The one time I don't double check a link...

You're absolutely right, I linked to an article I ran into, definitely not Mondello's.

I agree his power estimates and rev ceiling are under rated.

The articles you linked are the ones I intended, so thanks!
