403 Olds cams : Edelbrock #3712 vs CompCams

Hi guys, please help ;

I have a 1979 Trans Am w/403 Olds stock engine, Borg Warner T-10 4Speed and LS rear.
I must rebuild engine....
Actually i have a Edelbrock Performer Intake #3711 and i want to buy a Edelbrock camshaft #3712, but guy who sells engine rebuilding kits can offer only CompCams camshafts.
Please give me a hint ;
What CompCams camshaft is equal or better to Edelbrock 3712 (i need this car for Sunday street/strip driving )

thanks
Michael

The 403 "likes" the Comp XE grinds just like many others. The Edelbrock cams are "generi-grinds" sold by several outlets, supplied by Camshaft Machine. The Comp grinds, if picked correctly, far out-perform the generi-grinds.

We've had good performance from the XE268H grind in 403 (42-223-4, 218/224 @ .050). For more "lope" and high-end power, XE274H is called for. (42-224-4, 230/236 @ .050). Both are designed for the lower compression of "emmisions" engines.

Also consider the Comp Magnum rocker arm "kit". It replaces the bridge-type with studs and guideplates. Good stuff.
