406!

I am building a 74 c3 corvette stingray... all new leather interior with custom chrome everywhere, Guldstrand suspension, Mako style no seam body, turbo 400 trans, blk on blk....
the motor: a 406 from a 400 block i found on craigslist that Russ Pottinger is building for me from Bishop & Buehl out in Baldwin Park, Ca.
I need some input>>>
What heads?
What cam?
What intake?
Pistons?
ETC....

if you trust russ enought to have him build your engine, why not get his recomendation on components? from your description I would guess as long as its shiney it would be ok, as you didnt say how this car would be driven.

Okay.

I'm thinkin a bad motor.

Get the new AFR eliminator heads. They are supposed to be wicked. Not sure if the new big heads are out yet. They have around a 200cc now, goign to have a 220cc in the future I think.

Or get on ebay and get crazy - you get find Nascar stuff out there, could get some nice 18 deg. heads and intake to make a wicked little motor if you are good with stuff. It's over my head though.

Hyd roller cam., mild to wild you pick, but I would get something in the neighborhood of 240-245 duration @ .050. Keep a 112 LSA for great torque down low.

Intake; Professional Products Hurrican single plane. They say they are better than even the Super Victor and they are cheaper. Win win.

Pistons: flat tops for 11.5 :1 CR with 64cc chambers in the heads. Or do the 76cc chambered heads for a little less compression more friendly on pump gas. Keep the ol quench at .040" and roll on. But I'm sure your builders know all this. Its what he does!

carb; Holley street HP, 750, vac. sec. probably.
