phone the shop before you go,not all or many shops have a flow bench

when building a 400sbc with a 64cc head use a -18cc dished piston.
Like a KB147 piston (5.7" rod length.)

Can I ask you about the 400 block??. Are you sure it is a good core??. Those are getting kind of rare. Especially on a 400 you don't want a bore and hone without the pistons in the hands of the machine shop and do not do that without torque plates.A extra step is to sonic check the bores because some are casted as thin wall blocks.You need to know you have a sound bottom end before you spend money on the top haft,don't you??. Don't you need to know you have a flat deck before you plot out heads and SCR's??. Here again the 400's trait isn't to have a used engine with flat decks.

I did see you said a factory 400.but I am not sire what you mean in saying that.Still most of what I posted still applies even if it is a brand new casting.

BTW-have you called Brodix and asked them how much to port good used clean castings??. I would bet money they have a killer porting program that would be hard to match. Even if you have to pay more,you get tons more back in return.

They did a subframe for me a while ago. Did a good job. You run at Head Hunters?

Yeah i was going to go last sunday i called mandrell he said aslong as its over 50 degrees he would have track open

Yeah. I sent the block today to machine shop to get checked out it was a complete 45,000 mile motor out of a motor home i bought for scrap a tree had fell on
