406 Setup

I forget if the 83 Firebird has rear coils and torque bar. If it does replace upper and lower control arms and torque bar with solid aftermarket system. Do what you have to to stabilize and control the rear end. If you run street tires it might live for awhile. Your 406 needs bigger lungs it will like aftermarket aluminum heads with about 200 to 215 cc intake runners. With aluminum heads and premium gas you can run 10.5 to 1 compression. Put in a cam with about 550 lift and 230to 240 duration @ 50 and 110 center. Top it off with an RPM Air Gap and your carb and you have a basic combo.
