408 Magnum Stroker advice needed.

Finally have clearance to build the 408 as long as I watch the monthly budget. Long story short looking for about 500 horsepower and about 500 ft./lbs of torque (preferably close to this or a bit higher). Vehicle is a 1998 Dodge Durango 4X4, 13 inches of lift, tire size 39.5/18/R15 (Super Swamper TSL Boggers), gearing 4.56 w/ lockers front and rear, built 46re transmission (extra clutches, hardened planetary, hardened input and output shaft, transgo valve-body reprogram kit), 2400RPM stall. (Transmission was just replaced last weekend at 161900 miles currently at 162829 miles, just starting to show it power).

I'm set on the 408 stroker for the added power, the current 360 isn't cutting it once it gets off road. Just looking for advice and information here, the only thing I have set in my mind is the size. Below are the only real limits that I have, everything else is in the open and open for suggestions.

- I'm looking for a after-market or possibly stock block if no after market is available. ( vehicle was in WI for 8 years and the block is rusted and flaking, needs replaced. )
- Shooting for a 10.0:1 to 10.5:1 compression ratio, but still want pump gas friendly.
- Have SS headers, SS Y Pipe and a single 3 inch exhaust with flow-master super 44. Would prefer to reuse this if possible.
- No more fuel injection, really want a carburetter motor.
- Max price I'm wanting to spend is about $6500 if possible, could go a bit more but would take longer to build.
- After-market heads are preferred, 1.6-1.7:1 rocker arms.
- Noticeable cam with power range of about 2000-2200 to about 5500-5800.
- Must be able to run on pump gas (premium is OK).
- Would really prefer to have AC still, Texas is hot.

Open to any links, information, and advice anyone has on the subject. Anything is appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric
