41 Ford Transmission Mount

What gauge of steel tubing should I use to make a custom transmount (x member) for my 41 Ford. Does the tubing have to be mandrel bent or can I "pinch" the tubes. I am putting a Cad 500 bored to 509 with TH400 and a need to make something that can handle all the torque. Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

Modifying the X-member on these old Fords isn"t for the feint of heart, lots of stress and twisting forces! If you are running a later style front end (MustII etc) and a parallel leaf rear you can use lighter material but if you are using the old Ford stuff stick with 11ga. or .120-.125 wall mild steel material for the main pieces, I've cut and pieced them together and bent up tube either way works, they don't have to be mandrell bent, make your trans mounts and any bolt ons out of 5/16 plate. brace everything well. the pedal and master cyl mounts can be a pain.
