427 tall deck or 454 motor

regarding 427 bbc tall deck-- from what i can find i think i should discard it and try to find 454 to rebuild i just want a mild engine that is roadworthy it seems everthing for the tall block is complicated --does anyone have any ideas what would be best before i start rebuilding the 427 i have is std bore and a 1972 model ???

They are something of an oddball but they can be used to build really nice long stroke motors there's kits to take these to 496 or 540 inches if you want to do that. Lots of stuff on the web just google tall deck 427 build and stand back from the screen so it doesn't get all over you.

i think the only real problem with a tall deck street motor is the intake manifold
its hard to find an aftermarket dual plane, so you need to use a stocker or spacers
i'm sure there are other street motor ins and outs that somebody else can point out
but i think you can make it work, or you should have no problem selling it
