427 Tall deck specs

Does Anyone know the factory ratings of a 427 bbc tall deck (1978 vintage). I know that it is a good torque motor (wont spin past 4300 rpm). And does anyone now the cam specs. I want to go fuel injection for future up grades (pair of turbos).

As far as factory ratings, I have no idea. What I can tell you is that you can do many things to that motor. Bore it to 100 or more over(not for street),use different rod lengths combos, stroke the crap out of it and so on but they are expensive to build more so than a standard BBC.They have a taller four ring piston where as a standard has three. You will need to get heads because most of them are open chambered but have peanut ports which are very small and don't flow for crap. That is where you get the tourqe and low RPM. Lot of guys around here use them for truck pulling and these motors when built can see 8000 plus RPM. Most all truck motors(tall deck) have steel cranks, which is good. That is about it for them, the block and the crank are really the only useable performance parts in them. Need spacers to run aftermarket intakes(being taller the decks are further apart than standard BBC),the oil pump drive shaft is also longer and you will need to be sure and use it. I know there is more but it has been years since I pulled and I just don't remember. Hope this help some.
