The motor came out of a '69 Lincoln. 2 bolt mains, medium-to-low compression, standard heads. No big deal.

How do you know it is a 429? FORD/MERC used the 429 and LINC used the 460. Off of what component did you pull C9VE?

9Z535816 is the partial VIN from the vehicle. 9 is the model year (1969), Z is the assembly plant (St. Louis) and 535816 is the sequence number of assembly. LINC-MERC sequence starts at 500001 so it should be a 460. I believe they were rated @360HP that model year.
The block casting I.D. No. C9VE is a 429/460 block. For further I.D., you would need to look for the engine tag, carb I.D.tag, etc.

429 engine mud bod truck
if someone can tell me what the biggest cam i can throw at this 429 or 460 that would be great. and also this motor is going in a 1975 f250 truck with 38 and 44 in, tires, this truck is going to be at high rpms in the mud for a min or two. what would be ideal for this motor and what size stall convertor, the motor is rated about 360hp stock. do i give it more gas and air flow. change intake,what size carb. thanks for responce

The only diffrence between a 429 and a 460 is the crank. And both can take a lot of power. Their one of the few that can be borred way way over and still be good to drive and or race. And they run best with 750 carbs on them me and my dad has found that Holley is about the best to use on a Ford product.
