Talking 429 Update

I haven't done this lately...

For the new guys, this is a '68 429 and its sitting between the fenders of my '78 Ford Bronco.

I got a Holley 4160 Street Avenger, 770cfm for Christmas. So this is the most recent pic I have from 12/20.

Dad has been working on it alot since then. He got a B&M floor shifter that he's been trying to hook up. Due to the difference in size between the stock 400 and the new 429, the tranny linkage was not correct. I wasn't aware that you need to use the linkage from the 429 to mate up to the C6. Anyhow, so he went with a floor shifter and cut the whole middle section of my floor mat out in the process.

There's still some loose ends to tie up, like tranny cooler lines, gotta get a fan, gas tank and electric fuel pump need to be installed and plumbed. I heard him turning it over today, so he's got some of the ignition gremlins worked out. Its got a MSD billet dizzy with a 6-AL box.

I only wish I was able to be down there helping.

BBB that is one sweet motor, I remember when you still had it on the old engine stand. I will tell you that your 429 would look real good in my 73 Mustang, lol, your motor gives me the drool factor.

Well, it did look alot better. There's rust where the heads meet the intake and the intake and aluminum water pump have lost that "new" look. Dad dropped the motor in, and didn't put the hood on it and it proceeded to sit for 3 weeks under a tarp. The moisture was not kind to the engine. Hence why I got a new Holley...the Edelbrock was ruined because it sat outside so long.

At this point, I don't really care how it looks. I just wanna hear it rumble to life. There's also a good sized dent across the roof where a small tree fell on the truck.

I can't wait though....getting closer.
