Post 440 SixPack Balancing w/4-Speed

Ok, well I know that 440 six-packs and other "big rod" motors ('70-'72 440HP's) have EXTERNAL balancing.... but I've got some questions.

Are the big rod & small rod cranks identical?

How do you balance a motor that has pistons that aren't stock weight (milled) & six-pack rods if you don't have an externally balanced flywheel in a 4-speed car?

the cranks also are balanced different if you use a cast crank in a 440. to use a non weighted flywheel you will have to have the engine internally balanced. this involves drilling the crank counterweights and inserting MALLORY METAL or tungstun or other heavy metals to the counterweights. the cost varies depending on how much material is used, and how proud the shop is of its work. once done you can use any neutral balance flywheel on the motor.

This is a similar situation.... except I'm using a forged "small rod 440" crankshaft.

1. Is the balancing different between the "small rod" and "6-pack rod" 440's IN THE CRANKS or is the it just the weighted flywheel and harmonic balancer?

2. Who sells a weighted 440 flywheel for 6-pack applications?

3. Has anyone ever drilled out holes in a zero-balance flywheel like the old Direct Connection Engine Manual describes so that it will work on a 6-pack motor? How did it turn out?

Thanks Guys
