Cool 45-46 ford p/u

Hey all,
Just got word back from the Ford Motor Company and I struck out with them. They said all records during the war era were destroyed. Going to check around the web and other sites that you all told me about. Wish me luck. Sounds like I'm going to need it,lol. I'm in no hurry, but I will find out for sure what year a 59c ford p/u is. I'm 90% possitive its a 1945 from what I read so far.

Big, you could well have a 45 Ford which would be somewhat rare. They were produced, primarily for the military, but limited numbers were produced for "Official Business" purposes as well, but these would be in very limited supply. If I were a guessing man, you have one of those!!

Hey trees and joe,
Thanks for the info. Joe,I went to ford-trucks.com and posted a question. This is the responce that I received back;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;Congrats... you have a 1945.. one of the more rare ford pickups... least thats what i gather from my knowledge i have a 1945 and the Vin number located on the frame starts with 99C as does yours and i dont know where u found the 59C in the glove box, but yes that is a 1945 model.. the 5 in 59C indicating the year. *it went to 69C in 1946*
You can usually tell if its a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton by looking at the wheel base.. 1/2 ton had a 114 inch wheel base and a 3/4 ton had a 122 inch wheel base.
The original flathead v-8 for this truck should be a 59-ab.
I'm convinced now that I do have a 45. Thanks for the help folks.
Thanks, Lee

Absolutely beautiful, man! I wish you could just clear-coat it and leave it that way ... really! Old trucks just make me get all fuzzy inside.

Hey Big, looks like some pretty solid iron to start on for a neat old truck. I am more of a restorod nut. Make it as origional on the outside, but every thing late model performance underside. You can see a couple in my photo album and will be posting my finished 36 PU if the sun ever comes out!!

Hey all,
I'm keeping the outside original. Probably go with late model suspension underside. QUESTION ? I found some where that they made 19,706>59C p/u's in 45. Does anyone have an accurate figure on how many were made ? Is this the right figure?
Thanks, Lee
