"PERF PASS" is cast into the 454 block I just acquired. It came with a forged crank as well. Is this a Vette engine or what? I assume this means "performance passenger".
if it came with a forged crank and 4 bolt main caps id say that it either came in a corvete or chevelle, what to look for is the casting numbers on the back, just above the tranny mounting bolts, it should read 281 and even better 512, which is the same block as the LS-6 with heavier walls, 4 bolt mains and so on
We just bought one with HI PER F9 castings and are also trying to find out what it is.
Have you looked under the valve covers to see if it is a Pass. or truck?
My original 79 1/2Ton Chevy Truck heads have the same label on them..
