You can build a very powerfull and reliable budget blower motor using the stock 454 pretty much as is with a few upgrades.
The Weiand 177 BBC blower kit is sweet for this.
Keep the boost reasonable 5-7psi.
Get a cam with around 230in -237ex deg 112-114LSA .500" lift
Comp makes a Magnum cam for this.
Flat tappet HYD
factory hyd roller use The GMPP hyd roller with 224 duration and wide LSA .500" lift
solid flat tappet use the GM (Crane) LS-6 muscle car cam
244 244 .520 .520 114LSA
All these cams are blower friendly and need new hi perf valve springs.
get a 750 or 850 carb. headers and 2.5" duals.
The carb will need a few mods and some retuning
The trucks fuel system will need upgradding.
May want to convert the heads to a adjustable valve train
or swap on some 781 oval port heads.
5-7psi boost max and 30ish spark advance under boost
and it will go like hell and last.
use the best pump gas available.
The key is not getting crazy with boost or timing under boost.
It will make crazy power.
Does this motor have a flat tappet cam or a factory roller cam in it now?
Does this motor have the Gen V peanut port heads with non adjustable valvetrain.?
One of the biggest mistakes made with tall 35" tires is lack of gear ratio.
