454 chevy big block ?????

I just picked up a 454 Chevy for my next truck build.Wanted to know..It has the two ports for a oil cooler bye the oil filter.They are made into the block.I ran the ##'s And it say's it's a 91 and up 4 bolt..What I would like to know is..Can these ports be blocked off ?

Hi,
I don't know if they can be blocked off or not , but you can use a piece of U shaped tubing w/fittings to connect the two ports together,
in case it's plumed to be used only with a cooler.

Thanks Richard..I know I can do that, but would like to block them off if I can.I talked to a mechanic today and he said I could.But I would like to know for sure.Thanks again.

I would talk with a machine shop that deals with engines or even call summit racing talk with one of their tech's.

Sounds like you have a Gen V Block-yes, you can block them off-

If the engine was previously equipped with the cooler, you can remove the oil cooler valves (pressure differential-type, to get the oil to flow into and out of the cooler).

They'll pretty much just pull out, but they might be staked in some cases.
