Post 454 compression

can I raise compression on a 454 by changing the heads? which heads would I look for? the engine is a 1985 block.

Yes, you certainly can raise the compression ratio with a cylinder head change. You'll need to know your piston dome volume, if it's not a set of flat tops, and your current cylinder head CCs. I'll assume you have some fairly large combustion chambers, open chambers, and there are various different sized chambers on big block chevies, I would contact, Scoggin-Dickey Chevrolet or Sallee Chevrolet to get the low down on parts availability.
