Question 454 head CC size

I am going to rebuild my 454 and I am going to use the stock heads instead of forking over the money for new ones. But I need to now what the CC of the heads are. The engine is from the mid seventy's. If anyone nows I would apreciate the help.

Thumbs up

Hi fatheadfab. Do you know much of the history of this 454 ?. Is it a Car or Truck type ?. Year etc.. Your BB Heads(mid.70's) are probably 90-100% Open Chamber type, and will be about 120cc. It's the port sizes that can vary widely !. I suggest you buy a BB Rebuild Book so you can identify which heads you have. You definately don't want to rebuild the "peanut" size port heads which were mostly used in trucks. The regular "oval" port open chamber passenger head is the one to get. Shouldn't cost you a great deal to change over if you have to. Hope this helps,Hey Nice Rod !!..Cheers.............Barry.M
