454 install in a 55 chevy 210 post

looking for info,tips,suggestions,etc.im putting 454 in a 55 so far ive pushed the firewall back for valve cover clearence. ive ordered front mounts.they say you can do away w the trans mounts that are below the firewall.would i have to make a trans crossmember?can i just slide the trans foward?cam i use the edelbrock street fule pump or do i need to go w eletric?all the info would be great for my install thanx guyz

I put a 427 BBC in a 55 Chevrolet many years ago. I suggest you mount the engine with side mounts ... just like Chevrolet mounted their 427/454 engines. Then install a cross member under the transmission ... like Chevrolet did. There are kits to do this ... now

I had to fabricate all that stuff back then.

yea them kits are best , you get
oil pan
headers
mounts
metal for cut outs of valve covers and distributor cut out if you use the big
74 THROUGH 86 HEI .

I helped a buddy drop a 427 in a 56 210 about 20+ years ago. We used fabricated side mounts and a fabricated cross member, it worked great. Of course today you can buy all that stuff pre-made.

I agree wit Deuce, side mounts and trans cross member is the ONLY way to go.

What ever you do,Don't run a big block with front engine mounts.It will not hold up.I had a 427 in my 57 Chevy,But I had a camaro front clip.Worked out great with the side mounts.Here's a pic of the trans cross member I made.
