454 LS-7 Crankshaft Option ??

I building a LS-7 454, and I have a question (dilemma):

I am using GM dimple rods, GM/TRW pistons, GM 990 Heads - if you can't see the pattern I want to build a Made in the USA GM LS-7.

My dilemma is that I have bought two factory forged cranks off Ebay - same seller, both cracked, Good guy - he refunded my money.

Problem is - I wanted a good forged usable GM 454 crank, not my $.

I do NOT want to use a Chineese forged crank (Scat/Eagle), but I also don't want to drop $1500 on a Howard's or Crower crank.

Anyone here have a source for a good, GM factory crank?

Anyone have ACTUAL EXPERIENCE using a Scat/Eagle crank in a REAL 700HP race engine?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Scat or Eagle forged at that power level won't even break a sweat, nothing I would worry about. The original GM forgings are no great shakes, nothing special.

Callies CompStar is a step up from Scat, but it is still a chinese forging, just finish machined here like the Scat is. Eagle is all chinese. You won't find a low cost american forging anywhere.

I'd run Scat before I'd hunt for a factory forging if I didn't have one in hand or close by. Lots of 1000 hp engines with Scat, Compstar and Eagle in them running around without problems.

Howards has "Track Smart" american forgings @ $750 www.competitionproducts.com if you absolutely have to have american.

Are you referring to the old school LS7 454 or the Newer Moniker LS7 that's been stroked to a 454? Or did I just really confuse myself?

EQ doesn't have a Forged 454 crank listed and your link doesn't work without Login/Password.

If you want the "real thing" get a 1053 steel crank from GMPP under p/n 3963523.

A better crank from a material standpoint is p/n 3963524. It's made of 5140 steel.

I have no idea where these cranks originate.
