Question 454 Motors

I Droped a valve in my 454, I have 20,000km on it and I scored the cylinder pretty good, I was just wondering if it is ok to put a sleeve in it. Will this reduce the life of my engine or give it a week point. I want this engine to pout out 500hp like it once did, can you do this with a hi preformance motor with aluminum heads?

I've seen sleeves inn 350hp small blocks.I'd call a machine shop that builds Hi-po motors and ask them what they think.Personally I wouldn't think it would be a problem and as for aluminum heads I dought they would affect the cylinder wall sleeve at all.

I have seen everything from junk smallblocks to busted up bowtie blocks with sleeves in them.I know of one guy who put in a sleve in 1 slightly scored cylinder just to save from orderiung another set of $700 custom pistons for his 1000 hp 540 bigblock. He even reused the old piston, with new rings becuase the score in the cylinder was caused by debris that didnt damage the piston.I would have no reservations about sleeving a 500 hp 454.Good luck.
